Vaibhav Sooryavanshi moved a step closer to his India debut after reports claimed he is part of the probables list for the 2026 Asian Games. Pakistan youngster Arafat Minhas rewrote history with a record-breaking ODI debut against Australia.
Sooryavanshi set for India debut in Asian Games
Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could soon earn his first senior India call-up. Reports suggested that the 15-year-old has been included in India’s 30-man probables list for the 2026 Asian Games scheduled to be held in Japan.
Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad are also expected to be part of the squad, while T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav is reportedly set to miss out.
Sooryavanshi enjoyed a record-breaking IPL 2026 season, scoring 776 runs at a strike rate above 237 and smashing multiple all-time records.
Arafat Minhas scripts history on ODI debut
Pakistan all-rounder Arafat Minhas delivered a dream debut in the opening ODI against Australia in Rawalpindi.
The 21-year-old picked up five wickets and finished with figures of 5/32, becoming the first Pakistan bowler to register a five-wicket haul on ODI debut. In doing so, he broke a 32-year-old national record previously held by Zakir Khan.
Minhas triggered Australia’s collapse by dismissing Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green in quick succession before returning later to complete his historic five-for.
Rajasthan Royals question Sam Curran’s IPL withdrawal
Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara publicly expressed disappointment over Sam Curran’s withdrawal from IPL 2026.
Curran had opted out of the tournament citing a season-ending groin injury, leading RR to sign Dasun Shanaka as a replacement. However, the England all-rounder has since featured in multiple T20 Blast matches for Surrey.
The Royals management felt Curran’s absence hurt their campaign, especially considering the team’s middle-order struggles throughout the season.
Bengaluru Police impose restrictions ahead of IPL final
Hours before the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, Bengaluru Police issued a strict advisory for fans.
Authorities banned unauthorized public screenings, bike rallies, road blockades, dangerous celebrations and public alcohol consumption.
The move comes after the tragic stampede that followed RCB’s IPL 2025 title celebrations, which resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.
Police have urged supporters to celebrate responsibly if RCB secure another championship.
Mumbai Indians to investigate senior players conspiracy
Mumbai Indians are reportedly preparing to question senior players over growing dressing-room unrest following their disappointing IPL 2026 campaign.
Reports suggest tensions have existed since Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as captain ahead of IPL 2024, with rumours of divisions within the squad continuing ever since.
The franchise is said to be particularly concerned about repeated leaks of confidential team discussions into the public domain.
With MI finishing ninth in IPL 2026, the management reportedly believes restoring dressing-room discipline and unity is now a bigger priority than addressing leadership concerns ahead of next season.
