While the team management opted to leave out experienced all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the decision to include Nurul Hasan Sohan proved to be a masterstroke. Dambulla’s Struggle in the Chase

Facing a monumental target of 221, the Dambulla Sixers required a flawless start. Niroshan Dickwella and Sahibzada Farhan attempted to inject energy into the chase, putting together 49 runs for the opening wicket. Farhan struck 12 off 8, while Dickwella looked fluent with 32 off 19. Yet, the momentum evaporated quickly when both openers were dismissed before the team reached the 50-run mark.

The middle order failed to find the necessary rhythm to build substantial partnerships. Captain Dinesh Chandimal struggled to find his timing, scoring 15 off 17, and Gulbadin Naib offered little resistance, adding 15 from 13. Despite late-order heroics from Mark Ackerman, who struck a quick 23 off 14, and some positive intent from Ramesh Mendis, the required run rate proved to be an insurmountable obstacle.

Dambulla eventually finished their innings at 176 for 7, falling short by 44 runs. For Galle, the bowling effort was as disciplined as their batting was aggressive. Sachindu Colombage led the attack with three crucial wickets, supported by Mohammad Nawaz, Akif Javed, and Eshan Malinga, who each chipped in with a scalp. Even though Dushmantha Chameera put in a monumental effort for Dambulla, taking 5 wickets for 55 runs, it was not enough to overcome the massive total set by the Gallants.
