Perhaps the most critical aspect of the BCCI’s advisory pertains to the security of hotel accommodations. The board has identified numerous instances where players and support staff allowed visitors into their rooms without following the mandatory team manager approval process. According to the current protocols, any guest—be it a family member or a friend—must be vetted and authorized before entering private areas.

It has been noted that some owners have attempted to interact, hug, or communicate with players and support staff while the game is in progress. The BCCI has clarified that such behavior is strictly prohibited under the Player and Match Officials Area (PMOA) protocol.
While the board acknowledged that such displays might be well-intentioned, it maintained that these actions constitute an interference with team dynamics and match proceedings. Owners are permitted to mingle with the team only after the conclusion of the match. Any attempts to breach these boundaries in the dugout, dressing room, or playing area will now be treated as a serious disciplinary violation.
Strict Stance on Vaping and Prohibited Substances
Another area of concern highlighted by the BCCI is the use of vapes and electronic cigarettes at match venues. This follows recent incidents, including a notable case involving Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag, who was penalized for vaping in the team dressing room. The BCCI reminded all franchises that the use of such devices is not only a breach of league protocols but also a violation of Indian law, as vapes and e-cigarettes are legally prohibited.
The ban on vapes, e-cigarettes, and other prohibited substances extends to all team environments, including dressing rooms, dugouts, hotels, and training facilities. The board has made it clear that it will not tolerate such behavior moving forward.
Accountability and Future Consequences
To ensure compliance, the BCCI has announced that it will conduct random checks throughout the remainder of the season. The message to the franchises is unambiguous: the BCCI is committed to mitigating risks that are “real, foreseeable, and, if not mitigated, deeply damaging.”
Any future breaches of these directives will lead to severe disciplinary actions. Potential sanctions range from formal show-cause notices and significant financial penalties to the suspension or even disqualification of franchises from the current or future seasons.
