New Zealand Announce Squad for Test Series against Ireland and England

New Zealand has just revealed its test squad for the upcoming tour to Ireland and England.

The Black Caps are set to kick things off with a test match against Ireland before diving into a three-match series against the Three Lions starting on June 4.

The team has put together a 19-man squad for these test matches, and they’re excited to welcome back top fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke, which should really strengthen their lineup.

Squad Selection

Leading the charge among the seamers are Canterbury’s Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke, joined by Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Nathan Smith, and Blair Tickner, all of whom have been selected for both tours.

Michael Rae and the uncapped seamer Kristian Clarke are on board for the Ireland Test only, while Ben Sears is included for both the Ireland match and as a traveling reserve for the England series.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to kick off this next stretch of red-ball cricket with all our pace bowlers ready to roll. Kyle has been working hard to get his body in shape for Test cricket. He’s fit and strong right now, and he’ll definitely add a unique edge to our bowling attack. Will brings a fantastic skill set and physical attributes that make him an exciting addition to any Test team,”

Also noteworthy is the inclusion of former captain Kane Williamson in the squad. This comes after he mentioned that he would assess his availability for international cricket on a series-by-series basis. The right-handed batter is currently just 539 runs shy of becoming the first New Zealand player to hit 10,000 runs in Test match cricket.
